Cruising Kitchens is pleased to announce the completion of a two-story shipping container bar for the popular Austin-born restaurant, Ramen Tatsu-Ya. The area where this impressive 30’ unit sits, formally named Domo Alley-Gato, will offer patrons exclusive food and drinks and a lively atmosphere inspired by “small bars in some of Japan’s biggest cities.”
The outdoor patio bar, located next to Ramen Tatsu-Ya’s location on East 6th Street, will cater to the neighborhood nightlife scene. The first level of the unit is equipped with two margarita machines, three underbar ice bins, and plenty of modern shelving to create a fully functioning bar. Custom steel stairs lead up to a standing bar area to enjoy your food and drinks with a 360 view of the city. According to the restaurant owner and chef, Tatsu Aikawa, the goal of the unit is to “create an immersive environment” where people can mingle, enjoy great food and drinks, and feel as if they are in Tokyo’s traditional alleway bars.
While the vibrant atmosphere is one big reason to check out this new bar patio, the authentic Japanese cuisine will keep you coming back for more. Domo Alley-Gato’s kitchen will serve a special “23-spice curry” as well as “classic dishes such as katsu curry” and various other “curry inspired dishes.” The bar, which pays homage to Japanese pub culture, will feature a wide range of Japanese inspired cocktails, highballs, sake, western-style cocktails and more.
Domo Alley-Gato hosted their grand opening on Thursday, December 13 at Ramen Tatsu-Ya’s East Austin location. The bar patio is open from Wednesday through Sunday, 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. and admittance is 21 and up only.
Cruising Kitchens is proud to reveal the finished Domo Alley-Gato build and wishes the Ramen Tatsu-Ya team all the best at the grand opening!
